Find your words
How does your face look right now?
Choose an emotion → set the intensity → find the exact word for it
Which word fits best?
Emojitron was created in 2019 as a coding bootcamp project by Lisa Jones, a participant in the University of Denver women's software development bootcamp. Her idea was to create a light, low-stakes interface for the popular "feelings wheel" — a tool to help people verbalize their emotions.
On the home screen, the user selects an emoji that represents a facial expression. Next, the user rates the intensity of the feeling as mild, moderate, or strong. Based on these choices, Emojitron offers several words that might describe the feeling. The user can then select a word to see how it can be used in a sentence, and copy the text to their clipboard. None of the user's choices or data is stored by the app.
Emojitron is partly a feelings wheel, partly a thesaurus — a simple tool to help users find words to describe perhaps complex or nuanced emotions. Jones relied on Claude in 2026 to clean up the code and make the app functional.
